The Global Institute of Logistics, which sets standards for supply chain, distribution and logistics companies across the world, has appointed a new chairman. He is Kenneth B. Ackerman, the internationally known logistics and warehousing expert from Columbus, Ohio, USA, former president of the Council of Logistics Management and founder of the Warehousing Education and Research Council.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<\/div>\n

Kieran F. Ring Chief Executive Officer of the Global Institute of Logistics welcomed Ken Ackerman as Chairman of the Institute. “We are delighted to welcome Ken Ackerman on board as Chairman of the Institute. Mr Ackermans depth and breath of knowledge and leadership in the industry and in the profession will add a new vision which will build upon the great service of Bob Delaney to the Institute”. Ken Ackerman has provided management advisory services to companies throughout the world including manufacturers, wholesale distributors, retailers, warehousing firms, carriers and trade associations. Amongst his clients are General Electric, USA, Nissin Corporation, Japan, JD Logistics, Moscow, Omtra S.R.L, Milan, Italy, \"book\"Refinerias de Maiz, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Trans Warrants SA, Santiago, Chile. He has been active in logistics and warehousing management for his entire career. Before entering the management advisory and consulting field in 1981 with The K. B. Ackerman Company of which he is president, he was chief executive of Distribution Centers, Inc., a public warehousing company which is now part of Exel USA. In 1980, he sold the company and joined the management consulting division of Coopers & Lybrand (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers).
\nHe is editor and publisher of Warehousing Forum, a monthly subscription newsletter. He is author of several books including Auditing Warehouse Performance, Warehousing Tips, Warehousing Profitably, a recognized reference work and Words of Warehousing, a glossary of the terms used in the field. He is co-author of Warehousing Fundamentals, a self-study program for managers. Amongst numerous expert articles by Mr Ackerman, some have been published in the Harvard Business Review and in The New York Times. Ken Ackerman has a B.A., from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.He has received numerous awards and he has been honoured by the leading organizations the industry for his contribution to the profession.
\nIn 2002, the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) honoured him with lifetime membership. He is the first person ever to receive similar recognition from three different organizations: CLM, IWLA and WERC. In 1999, he received the Distinguished Service and Leadership Award from International Warehouse Logistics Association. He holds the Distinguished Service Award from Council of Logistics Management. He is an honorary life member of the Ohio Warehousemens Association and a former director of the American Warehouse Association.”<\/p>\n
